Advantages: Small, compact design, good picture quality

Disadvantages: None as yet

My parents recently bought this camera. It cost £140 as it was on offer, reduced from £250.

~Spec~
It has 4.1M Pixels, a 3.6 digital zoom and an optical zoom of 3.4. It takes an XD Picturecard, and the size of the card included is 16MB. You can buy additional cards, and the cost of these vary immensely. I have seen 164MB ranging from £20 to £40. Needless to say, the one we bought was £20! Included with this camera you get the USB cable, the software, a rechargeable NP-30 battery, a power adaptor, an AV cable and a cradle to rest the camera on, in addition to a hand strap. The camera is capable of taking movie/video clips with sound. You can turn his camera into a WebCam, if your computer is running on Windows XP. It is also both PC and Mac compatible.

~Ease of Use~
The camera is very easy to use. It is very small, lightweight and extremely portable. The camera itself is ultra compact, as the lens retracts back into the body of the camera itself. An advantage of the lens doing this, is that it does not become scratched or damaged in any way.

The cradle which comes with it is great! It makes a handy little prop to place the camera on when you are recharging the batteries, you can place the camera on it to view the pictures you have taken, and it makes downloading your pictures very easy and convenient.

~Quality of pictures~
The pictures come out very clear and true to life, colourwise. There are 3 resolutions: basic, normal and fine. It is very easy to switch the resolutions and settings: the 2 inch LCD monitor supports 6 languages and is very self-explanatory. (although the camera is capable of doing very many things so have the manual handy incase!)

I cannot argue with the quality of the pictures, they are very clear and sharp, even my pictures have come out looking good and i'm hardly a brilliant photographer, I just point and click!

~Other Features~
The camera can take small movie/video clips, with sound. These clips last 30 seconds. To take video clips, you twist the setting, point at your moviestar, and hold the button down! We've taken lots of these, mainly of my little boy, and they do not take up much memory at all. We took 7 movie clips and approx 20 pics and there was still space left. (And lots of battery too, which is another good point which I must add!)

You can also connect the camera to your television, and view your pictures this way. There is a video-out socket that comes with the camera which you use to do this. The pictures can be seen as a slideshow, as thumbnails, or one by one as you prefer.

You can also take black and white pictures. I do not know how to do this, so you would have to refer to your manual.

The zoom features on this camera are really good. You can zoom in on the pictures you have taken without distorting them.

~The Design~
It is very small and compact. It's a nice camera lookswise, not big and bulky in the slightest. It's so lightweight and portable. You do not get a case with the camera, you only get a handstrap. It has a stainless-steel body, and the power switch is contained in the finger grip on the front of the camera. You slide this outwards to turn it on and the lens glides out. Which is a pretty clever and smart feature in itself.

I would definately recommend this camera, especially if you can pick it up at the kind of price that we did. It is well designed, takes good pictures both inside and outdoors, and I can not fault it at all. I only wish it was mine!!

Summary: Easy to use, lightweight, compact.

An excellent review. This sounds an ideal camera for someone who doesn't want to think hi-tech. Like me!

What a brilliant example of how a short review can be more useful than a long one.

Excellent .
