The ideal camera for the non-technical (Fujifilm Finepix J10)

Disadvantages: Camera memory pitiful so you need at decent memory card

When my wife decided it was time for us to buy a new digital camera I began researching on Ebay. We both love taking photos but our technical knowledge is non-existant. What we did know was that we wanted loads of mega-pixels, we wanted a good sized LCD screen, rechargable battery option, connection to PC availability plus some kind of anti blur. We are both getting on a bit so the hands aren't quite as steady as they used to be! I looked at literally 100's of cameras and gradually whittled them down to this awesome little unit. It may be small in size but its huge on features, many of which we will probably never use. 8.2 mega pixels is plenty for our type of photos, the preview screen is brilliant and there is plenty of room for all those little signs and words that pop up telling you everything from the date to the state of the battery. It even tells you when you are out of focus! The real added bonus with this unit is the video option which produces suprisingly clear film. However you will need to have at least 4gb of memory to achieve the benefits of this feature. The zoom is very well designed and is in two stages so that you can get really clear close ups. All in all we are both well impressed. Fuji have just provided us with 3 years extra parts and labour warranty for £18.50. A few quid for a spare battery is a must and I would highly recommend the neat little charger you can buy on Ebay which doubles as a 240v or 12v charger so that you are never without power. Our total outlay inc all the extras and the warranty £110~ WOW!

Summary: A very reasonably priced easy to use camera for everyone whatever their ability
