Fujifilm Finepix JX530
Advantages: Cheap price, good functionality, good panoraic shots
Disadvantages: Takes time to focus in low light, battery doesnt last that long
I recently just got back from Russia where I climbed Mt Elbrus, whilst on the climb for 4 day nearing the summit I took some fine pictures on my old fuji camera, which had been a faithful companion to me on these trips for years. On summit day I dropped the camera down the mountain...annoying...so I needed a new camera and this uji was it.
I went back to Fuji as I like they usability of their cameras, I liked the fact they are fairly cheap and they still give very good pictures.
Now like my last fuji camera, this is a compact digital , you obviously will not get the sort of quality on the pictures that you get with a SLR, but you do get the cheap pric, the same functionality (well for the most part), easy and light mobilty and fairly good functionality.
For fifty sheets this camera can be yours from pretty much most retailers.
So unusually ill start wiht the faults, there are a few, but they are all pretty minor issues. I have been a little disappointed with some of the pictures that I took, they looked like that in low light they came out a grey colour. The camera seems to work allot harder when trying to get the focus to settle, so this means that you have to take a few of the same shots to make sure you get a good one. The battery does not seem to last very long, Ive found this a problem with the cheaper end digital using lithium batteries and s it is a problem not exclusive to this camera. At night there is no red/white light and so I suspect the camera works harder to be able to focus in low light until the picture has been taken. And beig a bit of videa junkie, I like to utitlise the video functionality. I have notied that the playback has very low sound unless you are tlaking close tpo the microphone hole bu when you download the video the sound isnt that bad realy, it just seems terrible when you play the playback on the camera itself.
Now to the good point, the camera will give you continuous shooting of up to 0.8 frames per second. The camenra has red eye reduction (always handy with low light flash pics). It has a Memory card compatibility, which uses the Fuji card SD/ or SDHC. It has 720 high definition movie recording functionality and playback with sound, which as I earlier said has sound that leaves a bit to be desired when using the camera, which I suspect are the cheap speakers, but when downloaded are ok.
Finctionality: The camera has 17 scene modes, the usuals, landscape, sport, portrait , indoors ,candles that sort of thing. There is also an intelligent scene mode and a smile shutter, blink detection, so i will retake pictures. It has a self timer which im having a bit of a good time trying to work out. It obviously has a built-in flash.
The main features are a 14 megapixel resolution and a fujinon 5x zoom and 28mm wide-angle lens that provides for brilliant panoramic shots. A 2.7-inch LCD screen and its HDTV Compatible with photos & videos, it has tracking Auto Focus and scene recognition auto (SR AUTO)
The accessories included are a USB cable carry strap a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery NP-45A battery, A bc-44B battery charger, a quick start manual and a CD-ROM software, advance user manual to manage your photos on your computer.
