The Fujifilm FinePix S4200 is a bridge camera which basically means it has the features you would get in a compact camera and it's not quite a full SLR in terms of changeable lenses ("bridged the gap" between point-and-shoot cameras and SLRs) so you get benefits from both types of cameras.
It has a 24mm wide lens so it's great for taking shots at a normal distance also the macro shots are excellent with this camera.
The lens is 24 x optical zoom so when taking shots from a distance the lens comes into it's own.
In my opinion the camera its self is really well designed, it fits in the hand well with a nice grip on the right hand side reminding me a an SLR camera.
The camera weighs around 540 g so it's not too heavy.
It has 3.0 inch LCD display with a nice resolution of 230000 dots which makes viewing the pictures you have taken crisp and clear even viewing pictures you have taken with full zoom.
A feature I really like is the ability to switch from the LCD view to electronic viewfinder.
It has an easy to use mode dial, it has SR auto, Auto, Automatic mode with programmed settings, Automatic mode with user setting the shutter speed, Automatic mode with user setting the aperture, Manual, Custom, Panorama, scene selection and Movie modes
Overall I really like this camera the only thing for me that lets it down it the movie mode, it shoots 720p, which the filmed footage is quite good but the mono microphone really lets it down, sound comes out muffled and crackly. And the battery life is not great, I would recommend ordering some rechargeable batteries.
Summary: Overall I really like this camera, I use a HD camcorder fof movie footage anyway.
