Advantages: simple, brilliant quality, fantastic zoom
Disadvantages: Editing software is a bit basic - don't even get me started on the lens cap
Don't ask me why, but on a whim I decided a bridge camera was the way forward. Love the camera on my Iphone, but I wanted something with a little more va-va- voom, a better zoom and immensely better quality. Now taking any sort of a picture is a bit of a lottery with me.. eyes shut, gaping mouths, add three stone to the weight of the subject (popular me - errr no not after that), so I wanted a camera that was cleverer that me - and I found it. This little baby tells me when they blink or move and has a fabulous auto setting which is what I will use until I get used to the camera and is idiot proof (well except the lens cap which only goes on when the camera is in off mode - 2 hours that took me to find out!)
I pretended to be David Bailey and took shots of baby animals at the zoo which were miles away, leaves, plants, anything that didn't look like it might ask me if I had a disclaimer for them to sign and the zoom was amazing. No faff, no fuss, no changing lenses (as if I could) but the photos (and I am the original challenged girl at taking them) were beyond awesome - every single hair was there.
I bought it on the recommendation of the media tech guy where I work. His thinking was that it has a brilliant lens, is relatively simplistic for the newcommer, but also able to deal with those who really know what they are doing - those who are already laughing heartily at me.
At some point in time I will be able to take it from my bag and merrily string it from my neck in gay abandon; but I'm still very much at the learning stages. Buy it - enjoy it!
Summary: Buy it, enjoy it!
