Advantages: Great image quality, easy to use and lots of usefull features to use.
Disadvantages: Cannot attach external lenses or flashes, no RAW format.
I have been using this camera for over a year now. I initially bought it to help with my Photography A Level course, I have to say, it has been a brilliant purchase. The price I paid was just over £100, and for what is a digital SLR at this price point you can't really go wrong.
I think that this camera has a really broad appeal. As an entry level digital SLR it can appeal to casual users wanting to get really good holiday snaps, as well as being great for amateur photographer's like myself. Just because this camera is "entry-level" don't be put off, it really packs in the features.
Whilst I imagine a casual user could be greatly satisfied with this camera just through using it's 'auto' setting and the environment specific modes (portraits, night, party, firework, there's loads), I would strongly recommend if you haven't before, taking the opportunity to explore this camera's manual mode.
This camera is great for your first exploration into experimenting with shutter speed aperture settings ISO and manual focus. With easy to navigate menus, I found it really fun to show of my photographer side with this camera.
At 7 megapixels, and with a 10x Optical zoom (theres also digital zoom, but I wouldn't recommend using this at all, not just on this camera, but all. In this case the optical zoom will more than suffice for the most part), the images you will capture are stunning. I'm particularly fond of the cameras macro setting, the colours and richness of image you can achieve are great.
I have a couple of slight gripes with this camera. The first is that as this is an entry level product, you unfortunately cannot use external lenses or flashes with this camera (The pop up flash included is great, not as controllable as external flashes). Also for some reason you cannot store or import your images in RAW format on this camera, which is a shame. The JPEGs are great quality, but I don't really understand why RAW has been omitted.
However, what I will say is that if you are just looking for a great slightly upmarket digital SLR without breaking the bank, or even if you're a budding photographer, these things probably will not bother you in the slightest.
Overall, this camera has been fantastic for me and has helped immensely and made me a much better photographer.
Summary: Brilliant camera for the price, and will satisfy your photography needs.
