Advantages: Zoom, zoom zoom!

A really impressive camera for the price and size. I've had this a while now and it has been very reliable and has given no problems at all, unlike previous "big zoom" point and shoots I have had. When it was dropped - oops! - I sent it back to the manufacturers for a reasonably priced and rapid repair, too. The picture quality is splendid and the response time after pressing the button is much better than on other "big zoom" digital cameras I have owned. It is hapy with the newer 4GB SD cards to and I have never yet managed to run out of space for pictures. It also takes pretty good movie clips in the useful generic AVI format.
Of course it is a little heavier and bulkier than the average compact digi camera but the lovely 18x zoom more than makes up for this - I use it for birdwatching as well as everyday pictures of the family. It still fits in a pocket
of a fleece or raincoat. I do recommend keeping it in a well padded case to avoid the dropping problem! If I had had it in its case it would probably have been fine....
