Advantages: Cost, quality, features available.

Disadvantages: Can be considered bulky, not the best camera out there!

I have owned this camera for over 2 years now and have no intention of selling it until it breaks.

This is about as close as you can get to a DLSR without the hefty pricetag. There are six automatic shooting options, one option to record video (with sound, and the quality isn't that bad either), and then there are the manual settings. You can also shoot Macro with this camera without needing an external lense. Automatic settings are:

-Auto
-Anti-Blur
-Natural Light
-Night
-Portrait
Landscape

And then the manual settings are either Shuttery Priority or Aperture Priority. If you are a novice to photography then the instruction manual does contain a lot of helpful advice so you can get the best out of your camera.

Despite it's size, it is a surprisingly light camera considering the amount of shooting options available on it, and while it obviously isn't a sleek camera that can be shoved into your back pocket, the picture quality definitely makes up for this.

With 9 million pixels, external flash and an excellent optical zoom facility, memorable photos can be taken with this camera. While it might not have the status of the Digital Rebel, it takes photos of the same quality and isn't nearly as expensive.

One neat little feature that is often overlooked is the the LCD tilting screen. It means you can see the image through your lense from most angles but without having to change your position.

Would definitely recommended this camera to anyone looking to invest in their photography but who does not want to pay for a 'proper' DSLR. It has all the features you need to take memorable photos and is a simple camera to learn to use. The instruction manual is top quality as well- it takes you through every mode step by step and has been a great source of help for me. This is not a DSLR but for someone who is keen/enjoys photography and does not want to start with a more advanced camera, I would suggest this as a good starter :)

Summary: Fabulous camera for introduction to digital photography

I regularly speak to photographers and know that a decent DSLR will cost around the £400. Yes, there are cheaper ones out there but for a good model you have to spend more.

And then lenses, external flashes etc cannot be considered cheap. I'm not going to start an argument with you over my opinion however- I see them as being as good as a DSLR but I suppose it all depends on who is using the camera :)

These cameras are very good but they are not as good as DSLR`s and You can get a DSLR for £250 these days which is hardly ridiculous when some Sony cybershots cost more! - Colin (guide for photography)!
