This Fuji offering was my first dip into the world of digital photography, having said for years i would never go there. I had my own darkroom at home and loved the flexibiltiy of doing what i wanted, and swore i would never enjoy the digital world in the same way.

Though i still maintain that there is something very special about developing your own photos, and i will never lose that passion, i have to admit that the digital world also has its very own appeal. The ease of being able to take as many photos as you like (dependant on your memory card) and then only print the best selction is great - you can take 20 photos of a views on different settings and then use your PC to see which worked best - very handy!

Also in terms of what you can do with the pictures - well if you have a good photo editing suite on your PC you can pretty much do all the darkroom tricks and more! Maybe slightly less hands on and fun, but the scope is amazing!

Back to the camera itself - not a true SLR but a very well designed camera that in my opinion is an ideal precurser to going SLR. Its a lovely to handle and feels like a high quality product, something which can not be said for all cameras!

It takes lovely pictures on all settings once you suss them out, and gives a better colour reproduction that most non-SLR units - this is particularly true if you have a view with large amounts of green! The Fuji camera produces greens beautifully!

It is a very straightforward item to learn to use and with all of its settings used fully will take you a very long way into the world of digital photography!

I would very highly recommend this camera to someone wanting to start to learn on a budget!

Summary: Cant fault this camera for someone looking to learn the basics!
