These features save you big time money and maintenance.

Comes with a 58mm filter thread. This means it can take many accesories like filters/wide angle adapters etc.
Uses AA batteries. With Canons you need to buy adapter tubes.

Does not attract dust like DSLRs do.

The price is a big jump from the lower models (s5600/s5700) but this lens widens a bit more and has more megapixels and zoom range. Also the zoom works in the video mode as well

99% of the DSLRs would not record videos. The quality of the video is very good. Also with SLRs you have to buy Angle Finder to see camera when shooting waist level. Super macro mode is a very nice touch too.
