Good little camera, but watch the sneaky lens cover...it likes to slide open!

Fujifilm Finepix Z200fd
Advantages: Easy to use, good value, takes great pictures
Disadvantages: Has a tendency to open itself and drain the battery
I bought this camera a few years ago with the underwater housing that is available for it from a dive shop, with the intention of using it for underwater photography. I then took it on a big trip to Australia and got some truly amazing shots of coral reefs, swimming with dolphins and even whale sharks. Like all underwater cameras it took a big of practise to get the underwater shots right, but once I did they came out really well for a beginner like me.
The only problem with this camera and the underwater housing is that once you have put it into the housing there is no way of turning it off, because to do this you have to slide the lens cover over the lens (impossible when it's sealed into the housing). Because of this the battery wears out really quickly, which was very frustrating.
When not using it as an underwater camera it still took great shots and was pretty robust in terms of me dropping it. As the previous reviewer mentions I too didn't need a case for this camera and it has hardly any scratches on it.
The various different settings it has include: taking photos in the snow, on the beach, at a party, with pets and even close ups of flowers. All of which were really useful. The pre-programmed auto setting was also good at taking general pictures. If you are taking lots of photos in a day this camera needs charging every night, but if not the battery will last a few days.
All in all I would say this was a good value little camera, whether you are using it for underwater photography or not. If you are an experienced underwater photographer then I this camera probably isn't the one for you as it's pretty basic. But if you are looking for a way to begin learning underwater photography then I would recommend it.
Finally just two negatives about the camera, firstly the sneaky slide lens cover does have a tendency to open itself in your bag or pocket, meaning that when you come to take a picture you have no battery left. A case would probably have remedied this. Secondly if you get any grit or sand in the slide mechanism of the lens cover, expect scratches and difficulty opening and closing, so just be careful when you're on the beach.
Summary: Good little camera for the beginner underwater photographer
