Fujifilm FinePix Z70
A sleek camera, available in a number of colours, it looks snazzy. The lens cover is pretty cool, sliding up and down, also turning the camera on and off, it doesn't just look good, but makes it a really quick camera to get out, turn on and take a picture. Really user friendly, easy to take pictures, alter settings and flash, look through pictures, and quickly delete any embarrassing or horrific ones before anyone else has the chance to see them. Great for taking pictures anywhere at anytime, and small and sleek so easily fits into a pocket or handbag, it really is the ideal camera to capture all of life's little moments. And it takes good quality pictures perfectly clear zoomed in or out, again ideal for someone wanting pictures of family or friends, days or nights out, any occasion. It is really easy to transfer these pictures to a computer too, enhancing the user friendly approach of the camera. The recharbable battery has a good lifespan, while it is a relatively durable camera, surviving numerous drops, and even the odd minor liquid related incident, although while the camera functions perfectly the casing is less durable. It is perfect for carrying anywhere and everywhere, although in a case if particularly clumsy!
Not a camera for serious photography and even for the amateur it's memory is poor and a memory card a necessity. That it chips and scratches fairly easily can ruin the otherwise superb appearance of the camera.
Overall a wonderful little camera, ideal to capture moments anywhere anytime.
I bought this camera for my wife after her old Canon broke. Her criteria were pretty simple - good zoom, looks good, small enough to fit in a handbag, does video as well...
Well, it looks good. I got her a pink one. It turns on/off by sliding down a front cover which exposes the lens. The camera is pretty slim too - definitely very handbag friendly in size, though without a case we found it turning itself on just with general handbag movement (part of that "little bit disappointing"). The 5x zoom is decent enough and the settings and menus easy enough to navigate through. Setting it up is very easy.
The camera produces 12MP photos that are good, and at higher ISOs do well, particularly for this size of camera. My wife finds the auto white balance a bit inconsistent though. Two photos taken in a couple of seconds of the same scene can show variable colours, this is especially true indoors - it doesn't show up often (maybe 1 in every 50 photos) but I think it's worth mentioning. Outside though the colours and tones are all very good.
The HD videos are fine for what this camera is - as you'd expect, you're not going to make a Hollywood blockbuster but for recording those family moments it's perfect. The camera boasts a mode to make it easy to upload to various social networking sites like YouTube and Facebook but we've not used these.
The rear screen developed a big chunk of dead pixels after a few weeks so we sent it back to Fuji for repair (free of charge) and found that a totally hassle-free experience so worth reporting on that here too. Very quick turnaround and just generally a good experience of their customer service.
Me and my partner both bought one of these cameras for £60 from Amazon last Summer. I decided to go for the blue one, whilst he decided to go for the one in black. Both cameras arrived and we were initially impressed with how nice the cameras actually look from both the front and the back! The colours of the cameras are vivid and are very appropriately sized to carry around on long journeys.
The cameras themselves are only 12 Megapixels, but this is counteracted by the camera having a 5x optical zoom and further digital zoom if needed. Neither me or my partner are professional photographers and we only really purchased the cameras as we were going on holiday together and we thought it would be nice to get some photos. Saying that, we do both appreciate quality in pictures which is certainly what this camera provides. When the camera arrived, we tried testing them to see how they were and we discovered many great settings including the macro setting which is something that other cameras in the same price bracket don't excel in.
Like any other product, the camera isn't without it's negatives, mainly, battery life! The battery life is at best not great and both me and my partner had to invest in a second battery to make sure the camera will run for a whole day.
Overall the camera is probably worth 4 stars because the image quality is nice and provides clear images, even though you can only take a handful before the battery conks out!
* Cameras are small enough to be carried and won't weigh you down.
* The pictures that the camera produces feels more like a 15 Megapixel camera, rather than a 12!
* In all honesty, the camera looks pretty funky and they all seem to have nice coloured cases.
* You'll probably only get a couple of hours solid use from the battery, so you're gonna want to invest in at least a second.
* The camera does seem to have a tendency to panic when trying to auto-focus.
I bought this camera to upgrade from my old Z1. The Z range from Fujifilm have served my family and I well over the years so I saw no reason not to buy a new one. Like the rest of the cameras in this family it looks fantastic. The range of colours available is brilliant and there's one to suit everyone. With this though comes the downside of the camera's performance. The photos are okay and will probably suit anyone who just wants to take a few quick snaps on their holidays, anything more demanding, such as night time shooting or capturing fast moving objects, would be better suited to spend a little more and get a higher level camera. Those who want a rugged (I've dropped mine countless times and it still takes snaps fine) and quite striking camera should look no further than the Fujifilm Finepix Z70. I would still be using this camera had I not been given the newer Z90 as a present. Buy without fear, you will not be disappointed!
I bought this camera because it looked girlie and had 12.2 mp. For the price this camera is excellent. I manly use cameras for nights out so this was ideal for me because the size and weight meant it fitted into my going out bag perfectly. The flash works well and the pictures from night time come out really good.
I must have taken this out on about 2-3 nights out when i noticed that the memory card wasn't staying down in the slot. After getting a few people to look at it i realised that it wasn't going to work, so i reduced the quality of the mp to get about 30 photos. This isnt very good for me as i take 100s. I rang fuji to discuss getting this fixed and they said it would cost about £50 to get it fixed so desided i would leave it because this didn't included p & p. I now dont us the camera but i still think i may have just had a faulty one and that its an ideal present for any girlie girls.
I bought this camera, after being on holiday and realised I needed to take more photos! Its is easy to use and has really good functions for all exposures. However, I did come across a few problems, to turn flash on you have to scroll through about 4 menu options, would be easier with a simple flash on/off button. Also it is difficult to use in low light situations. In a low lit restaurant, I tested every different exposure function and all pics came out fuzzy and orange. When it takes a good picture, the quality is good and the colours are clear and bright. There are options to take a more flatterying photo as well, always useful. The camera itself is light and durable, smooth and small and stylish. I would have to disagree with the previous review however, as I had problems with the battery life, I charged it over night and when within 2 hours the battery light was blinking because everytime I put it in my handbag the shutter lense would open by accident.
Being a complete technology newbie when faced with buying my first digital camera I was stuck with where to begin. My aims from the camera were to be able to take pictures of day to day life, whether it's in a club or on the beach. This camera has lived up to my expectations and hopes, it's very easy to use and comes with lots of little features so I can get the best photos I want, without being too excessively complicated. It has a big screen to view images and even allows you to edit them on the camera itself. Connecting it to a computer is done with ease. I'm glad I chose this camera as it fulfils everything I have hoped it would. One vital thing that I was looking for was a rechargeable battery and this is fantastic, it has a long life and is easy to recharge. My only criticism is that to turn it on you have to slide the front which often happens accidentally in my bag, but the camera itself turns itself off if there's no activity after a minute or two, solving the problem of it wearing itself out without you realising.
