I am a beginner photographer who has been very pleased wth this camera, especially for the price I payed for it. Bargain! As a beginner I'm not sure if my reviews will be as critical as a more experienced photographer , but here goes anyway ...
I couldn't believe the Amazon price last week which for me, makes this wonderful camera the bargain of the year. I have an X100 and love Fuji colours so with the rebate and the Amazon promotional voucher it was a no brainier to order the XM1. It is a cracker, and whilst it doesn't have the build quality and heft of the X100, it is a beautifully made camera and looks superb. The lack of a viewfinder could be a problem for some but the LCD screen is razor sharp and as it tilts up and down, it makes the camera very easy to use.
The image quality using the kit lens is stunning, focusing is fast and accurate and the WiFi has linked to my IMac and Ipad without problem. The ability to use geotagging is a real bonus. Metering is accurate and the low light performance is excellent. The XM1 and the 16-50mm kit lens give a very wide angle for landscapes and a useful zoom. It is sharp at all focal lengths.
I read the reviews, noted the concerns of some regarding the plastic body construction and the lack of a viewfinder and went ahead and bought a truly exceptional camera at a 'be daft not too' price. Simply superb.
The black X-M1 Mirrorless Digital Camera with XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS Lens from Fujifilm is a high performance X-mount camera that takes its place alongside the X-Pro1 and X-E1 as Fujifilm's premiere mirrorless cameras and shares with them the handsome retro form factor, APS-C X-Trans sensor, Full HD 1080p Video, a host of high-end functions and access to the growing list of Fuji X-mount lenses. Where it differs from the others is in size (it is the most compact), its built-in Wi-Fi capability, its user-friendly interface and large tilt-able LCD monitor.
