Advantages: Must be cheap by now. Panorama mode is useful
Disadvantages: Video quality could be better
Well i've owned this camera for some time now. Must be at least 18 months, and its still functioning exactly as it did the first day i got it.
The battery is a Lithium ion pack unique to the camera, more like a mobile battery than the usual double A's and its well worth having. the life is excellent. and i often find myself trying to run the battery down in order to give it a full charge!
features wise it will take some nice pictures in auto mode, and has other settings for action, landscape, beach and snow, sunset, portrait and panorama modes. It also allows user specification if you want to play with the settings yourself. The panorama feature is where this camera really shines, take a picture, it will leave a trace, move the camera round, line the trace up with the landscape and take the next picture. Beautiful panoramic landscape or group shots can be taken with this, and the camera even joins them all together for you automatically.
Focus has 3 settings, normal, macro and super macro, so you can get some nice shots of close up stuff too. the flash is fine and charges quickly. It only comes with 64 MB of memory but takes SD cards so just buy a 512 MB cheaply online and never worry about storage again.
The video quality isnt great, and if you're moving or its windy you will get some wid noise on the sound, but lets be honest you bought this camera to take pictures, not video so even having the feature for quick fun vids is a bonus!
Its been everywhere with me, from snowsports in canada, to sunny spain, as well as lots of time spent outdoors in rainy scotland. i wouldnt say i've abused it but it seems to be tough enough. It has also taken many excellent photo's of cakes!
Comes with data cable and charger and software, only thing it lacks in the box is a case and a bigger memory card, but both can be had cheaply.
Overall an excellent camera, i paid around £170 but this was some time so i'm sure they'll be cropping up for much less than that now, camera technology continues to march on, but this little baby is still more than adequate for fun snaps or for someone who just wants a basic reliable camera.
Summary: Can't fault this, a basic, easy to use camrea which does exactly what you'd expect.
