Advantages: USB Interface, Good Outdoor Photos, Easy to use
Disadvantages: Not very good Indoors, May have to touch up photos with software, No LCD Screen or Zoom
When I first saw the jenoptik 800i camera I did not think it would be good quality at only £60. That was my first mistake! The camera came with all the basic materials - Camera USB Cable 2 AA Batteries 2 MB Smart Card Software - MGI Photosuite Twain Driver Carry strap Guides and Manuals Well off I went to start using the camera, to test it - I was totally amazed with the results (outdoors). The pictures taken were very clear and quite crisp with the outdoor lighting. When I took some photos indoors it was a different story - the flash seemed to brighten everything up until it was almost white. I thought "serves you right for buying a cheap camera", but then with using the software I was able to fix the photo's so they did look ok! Not such a bad purchase after all. The features of this camera are two resolutions 1024x768 and 1280x960, Macro mode and Normal Mode, Flash on/off/Auto, 10 sec Self-timer. The display is quite clear showing battery level, approximate storage capacity remaining, and the number of photos on the card. All in all I think this camera is designed for those who don't want to pay those ridiculously high prices placed on other digital cameras, good quality photos - even if you have to do a little work on them through the software! Now for the Technical Bit!!! 1/3" CCD Imaging Device 1280 x 960 Max Pixel Resolution 24 Bits True Colour Auto Exposure ISO Rating - 100 Shutter speed 1/30 ~ 1/1000 Built in Flash 10 Second Self-Timer Fixed focus lens f=6.6mm Focus Ranges - Macro: 20 cm Normal: 130cm ~ Infinity Format JPEG Image Capacity 15 Images on 2MB card Delete - All/Selected Battery 2x AA Alkaline Batteries USB Interface Size - 80mm x 84mm x 32mm Weight - 190g Since I have been using this camera for a few months now, I have noticed that the camera sometime
s does not want to take photographs - especially when the batteries are beginning to run low! When you click to take a photograph the picture may be taken up to 10 seconds later by which time the picture has missed the intended photograph. This can be a pain and if you do get one of these cameras, just remember to take a few spare batteries along with you if you wish to take a number of quality photographs. Altogether I still think this is a wonderful camera, and well worth the money spent on it. Happy Snapping!
