As most will know using a digital camera usually gives you a shutter lag time from when you click on the button to when it is ready for use again. The DC3400's shutter lag is about 1 second or less, most other digital cameras have several seconds of shutter lag. This is a great camera for a first time digital user. Depending on what you pay for it (I had mine through Ebay for about 150 gbp, refurbished with a year's warranty) it does offer good value. The zoom is a little limited but does the job - don't expect too much. Macro is one of the main drawbacks, get in too close and all you'll get is fuzz! Battery life is short - make sure you get a couple of decent sets of rechargable batteries. Picture quality is stunning if yu use the highest resolution - you couldn't ask for more from a camera of this price.
