Advantages: Lots of settings, easy to use
Disadvantages: Software is a nightmare
I've had this camera for about a month now and am so glad that this is the one I chose. It is my first digital camera - before that I had a film camera that I refused to get rid of as I have fairly shaky hands when it comes to taking photos and didn't want blurry photos. This camera is fantastic though.
For a start, it has an anti-shake/blue setting, which is very useful. Also, it has a very large screen at the back to view what you are taking.
There are a lot of different settings on the camera and it is very easy to get to the right one. You might or might not be able to see from the picture that on top of the camera, there is a dial. You turn this dial to adjust the camera to a different setting, which is much easier than pressing buttons. You can clearly see which one it is one. The only slight problem with the dial is fitting the camera inside a case, because the dial often turns with the camera going into the case.
There is a movie with sound setting. The quality of the films is quite good and the sounds is fairly clear. Not good enough for professional, but certainly good for amateur, starter videos.
There is a standard, auto setting for general picture taking
There is a landscape scene for distant scenery
There is a close-up setting, which I have found very good. It has been good for taking pictures of details and patterns on clothing to list for sale on various other sites.
There is a text setting, which I have also found particularly useful. I think that is the setting that has surprised me the most as it is so clear - just like you are reading it yourself! That has been good for taking pictures of book covers to list for sale places and for taking pictures of clothing labels when listing them for sale.
There is a fireworks setting which I have yet to use. There is also a flower setting which I have yet to use but look forward to using, as I enjoy taking photos of flowers.
A very useful setting which I have literally this second discovered is the 'manner/museum' setting where the flash and beep from the camera go off so that it does not disturb other people when you are taking a photo.
There is a self-portrait setting, a child setting, a backlight setting, a sunset setting (I look forward to using this), a low light setting, a portrait setting, a sport setting, a night setting, a night landscape setting, a snow setting and a beach setting.
The button that you press to actually take the photos with is very easy to find and press. There is an on/off button on top of the camera and a button to turn the flash on and off with and the red eye reduction on or off with.
It is very easy to review and delete photos whilst still on the camera and the buttons have writing next to them to say what the button is for.
There is a very good zoom too.
My main problem has been with the software. It is difficult to operate, and is the reason I am giving this camera 4/5. If there was an option to rate the software separately, I would give it a 1/5.
Summary: So glad I bought it!
