Advantages: Easy to Use, Very Cheap, Works Well

Disadvantages: Takes a few seconds to take a picture

I got the Kodak Easyshare C713 from Amazon the other week for just under £50 which is brilliant value I think. The RRP is £70 but it's presently reduced. I was planning on spending around £100 on a new camera but when I saw this and the top customer reviews that went with it I didn't see the need to spend any more money.

This camera was bought to replace an older digital Kodak Easyshare camera that had had it's day so I was already happy with the system in general. When I got this out of the box, it only took me a couple of minutes to get the batteries in and have the date and time set. Then I could just get on with taking a few pictures to test it out.

I found the auto setting worked fine indoors and out and also found that the zoom was really easy to use too. The camcorder setting is great for catching little moments on though of course it's only got a few minutes run time because this is a camera not a camcorder really. The screen you view the pictures on at the back is a really nice size and plenty big enough by anyone's standards.

Linking the camera to the computer was a bit of a pickle at first because I didn't realise that I didn't need to turn the camera on! You just plug it in and it does it all automatically. I was sat here for a good few minutes wondering why the camera wouldn't power up.

The only thing I don't like about this camera is the fact that you have to hold the button down for a couple of seconds for it take a picture. I don't understand why I have to hold it down for so long. Also, I've yet to work out where the memory card is in this thing but that's probably just me being thick. The important thing is that there must be one inside here included for the price.

For £50 this is a bargain buy. It's 7mp with a 3 x zoom, it has a good sized viewing screen and easy to use controls. You can get it out the box and get started within a few minutes which I love because too many modern gadgets waste more time than they save unlike this one. Highly recommended.

Summary: I'm Very Pleased For The Price I Paid.

I think this type of camera still uses AA batteries and it is expensive in the long term because the power will not last long and rechargeable.
