Great Photos on a Budget (Kodak Easyshare C813)

Advantages: Easy to use, Excellent picture quality

Disadvantages: Night-mode didn't work on my camera

I've owned this camera for some months now and have just been on holiday and given it it's first good workout! I bought it after my previous Easyshare broke (due to my toddler getting his hands on it) for around £50.

It's a nice compact camera, yet feels quite nice and sturdy with a nice weight to it....it doesn't feel cheap like many many budget cameras do, it feels good quality.

As I mentioned earlier, I've just returned from holiday (in Devon). The majority of my shots were of the awesome scenery in that part of the country and when I got home and viewed my photos I was blown away by the quality of the images it took!

I wasn't expecting much from a budget digital camera, yet some of the shots I took are comparable to those I took some years ago with a film-based SLR camera that I had when I took an interest in 'proper' photography. The images were so crisp and clear and colour appeared natural and the levels of detail were impressive.

I found that landscapes were where the camera really shone, but it coped quite well with family photos too, a couple were slightly dissappointing here, but mostly were excellent.

It's not all good news though...I wanted to take a photo of the view of a beautiful night sky over the beach, but whenever I tried to take a photo in 'night-mode' the camera crashed and reset itself. We tried to adjust the settings manually, but were unable to get a decent shot.

Aside from that one small disappointment, I can't fault this camera. For the price it represents excellent value for money.
