Advantages: Compact, great features

Disadvantages: Uploading to internet could be easier

I'm no expert when it comes to photography, but I do love taking photographs. I have 3 children, so there are many opportunites in our household to take some snaps! I used to have a small, boring didgital camera, or used my mobile phone, but on my birthday this year, I dropped some not-so-subtle hints to my husband that I would like a nicer camera. He purchased very well, and bought me the Kodak Easyshare C913.

Kodak is a very popular name in the photography industry, and they have not disappointed with this digital camera, which is a very good piece of technological equipment for those who are not experts in the field.

The camera is a very attractive one. It nicely fits in the palm of my hand, so is fairly compact. Its a mainly black camera, with a silver trim and lens, making it look very cool. At the back of the camera, you get a 2.4 inch viewing screen, so you can see your photo clearly in colour before taking your snaps, and view them afterwards too.

Taking photographs with this camera is so easy. Just pont and click, If your flas is turned on, it may take a few seconds, as the lens adjusts before the flash goes off. It also has built in blur reduction, so if your camera was a bit wobbly, it automatically adjusts and removes any blur from the photo. Once taken, you get an idea of how much blur was removed by a little icon that appears in the corner of the viewing screen. Its like a little wavy hand, green means no blur reduction was needed, yellow means there was a little, and red means a lot of blur was taken.

This camera is a 9.2 megapixel camera, so you get some very good quality shots on this camera, and they come out better when printed the higher the megapixel.

The quick functions on the camera, include : a delete button - this makes it quick and easy to delete any pictures you do not want to keep.
Review - this button enables to you browse through all the photos you have already taken.
Menu - from here you can do many things, including setting the self timer, changing the picture size, colour mode and many others.
Zoom Function - the easy slider zoom function button is simple to use, just click either end to zoom in or out. There is a little bar that slides up and down so after a while you get an idea of how far you want the zoom to go.

At the top of the camera, there is also a little dial. Using this, you can choose from taking auto photos, to changing the layout of the photo (and one function I have literally just discovered, which enables you to take a clear photo if there is light in the background!) You also can switch to video mode from here.

Using video mode is simple, just switch to the correct setting, and start by using the same button as if you were taking a picture. If you have a memory card with enough space, you can video for a long time. (I currently have an 8gb memory card in mine, and so far have 45 minutes of video on there.
I was confused when videoing, as when you play it back through the camera, there is no sound. It wasn't until I uploaded my videos onto the pc that I realised it does record the sound but you just cant hear it on the camera itself.

Inside the camera box, there was a Kodak Easyshare software disc, a USB lead to hook it up to your computer, a big instruction leaflet, and a docking stand.
The software is simple to install, but it did take a while on my pc, and if I am being honest, I tend to upload my photos on the internet, and dont really use the software very much. I also have to admit to not paying much attention to the instructions, and 'winging' it more! And I have only just started using the stand to hold my camera on.

I can imagine that using ordinary batteries would drain this camera quite quickly if you use it a lot, so I use rechargeable batteries in mine.

There is 16mb internal memory built in, although, Im not sure how many photos that will hold. As already said, I have an 8gb memory card (SD) in mine, and I have 45 minutes worth of video, and 1177 photos, and I have used around 70% of my memory, so investing in a memory card may be a good idea.

You can hook the camera up to your computer via the USB cable, this can be a slow process if, like me, you have lots on the camera.
My only downside to this camera, is where I can upload it to online. It uploads to Facebook easily, although I have to use the simple uploader tool, so it can take a long while to upload if I have a lot to add. I cannot upload straight from my camera to photo sharing sites like Photobucket for example, and I do struggle with any photo printing companies. That may be because I dont use the software though, it may be possible that if I saved my photos on the software it will be then saved on my pc making it easier to upload online. Thats something I will have to try!

My husband paid around £90 for this camera, although he was not impressed to see it in the sales at just over £60 a few weeks later!! I think now you can pick one up for around £70, and it is available in silver, pink and purple in some places.

It is a very good camera, its like my best friend, I take it with me everywhere I go! It captures some lovely images, and the zoom is great!

I'll add some specs for anyone who wants to know the more technical stuff!

Specs

3 x Optical Zoom lens
Max resolution - 3472 x 2604
17 scene and 3 colour modes
Flash Range - 3.2m
Digital Image Stabalization
On camera share button

There are many many more specs for this camera, these are just a few of the great ones!

If you are looking for a handy and high quality camera thats a good all rounder, this one is a camera I would very highly recomend!

Kodak is a good camera. My lens jammed on mine and I bought a fuji. The picture quality on the kodak was far better and I miss it.
