Advantages: Reasonable price for 10 MP camera with image stabilisation included
Disadvantages: slow to fire up and plainly styled
The Kodak Easyshare M1073 IS a 10.2 megapixel camera, which is outstanding when you consider the price. It is basically billed as a "point and shoot" camera which is ideal for those just wishing to take some quality pictures without worrying about adjusting the settings of the camera which can become quite technical.
With a choice of four colours, silver, red, black and pink, the Easyshare is plainly styled with a "boxy" front and a small gold and silver lens ring.A good fact is that the flash is positioned well away from the lens which reduces red eye significantly.
The screen is a reasonable 2.7 inches (69mm).
Dedicated buttons for menu, playback, delete, sharing and flash make life that little bit easier.
The charger has a usb connection that you use to charge the camera and use the same cable to transfer your pictures onto your pc!
This model sports a 3x optical zoom, optical image stabilisation (for those of us with unsteady hands) and image blur reduction.
The sticker on the front of the camera proclaims stills that are HD, but as this is a 10 MP camera and HD is way below 10 MP I think that this proclamation is just marketing hype!
Other interesting and useful features include face detection, and "panorama stitch" which can combine up to three shots and "stitch" it into one large panoramic view!
Quite slow to start up, taking up to 6 seconds to capture an image, which isnt helped by the fact that the branded logo introductory screen has to be loaded first , but, unfortunately, unlike most other cameras, there is no way of shutting this off!.
Summary: Takes photos with the minimum of fuss but a basic camera
