Advantages: Long battery-life, good picture quality and cheap to purchase
Disadvantages: Not many features, extending lense opens you up to more damage
After growing up with cameras that were the size of TV's and only took batteries, the M863 was my first camera that was recharchable and used a memory card (not film!).
This camera comes in three different colours: black, red, silver. It is easily portable, however not so small you can't see the screen when taking pictures! In fact, the screen is a very adequate size compared to many competators!
The zoom is also very good, and rarely blurs which is what you expect from a decent camera. 8.2 megapixels is a generous amount and there is not much difference between the 8mps and the 10mps - unless you are printing and enlarging the images!
The amount of different settings and features are endless however you need not get swapped with too much technical waffle, as this camera is great for just pointing and shooting! You can also record video which again comes out very well, however please note that the format is not too good if you want to import video into Windows Movie Maker!
The camera as a whole is quite durable (depending what you do with it) i mean, this is my THIRD M863 as i lost the first, and dropped the second which taking a picture so the lense broke. Lesson learned. I attached a Nintendo Wii strap to my camera instead to keep it with me at all times and to stop it falling and breaking!! But this third one has still taken a fair share of knocks and is still alive.
Also, the battery life is incredibly long - who wants a camera that takes ten pictures and then dies? Therefore, if long battery life, good pictures, low cost and durability are what you are looking for - then this is the Kodak M863 is camera for you!
Summary: Kodak has done good again!
