      A good compact camera

It took me ages to replace my old camera, and I only did it because the battery life was so shocking. While I realised camera technology had no doubt come quite a way since I bought the old 3 mega pixel one, the 8 mega pixel M873 was quite amazing in its brilliance!

The camera is a great size-I have small hand and RSI so find it difficult to cope with cameras which are bulky or have the buttons in awkward places. The M873 is only 1.5 cm deep which makes it nice and slim to fit into a bag or pocket. The on and power buttons sit tucked onto the top of the camera and all other functions controlled using the viewing screen and buttons on the back of the camera. There are too many separate functions to mention but the best are the 5 different flash modes, the warning icon that appears when your hands have not been steady while taking the photograph and all the different modes in which you can take your pictures-there's even a sunset setting to help capture those great holiday scenes!

Probably the best attribute of this camera is the size of the screen, 2 by 1.5 inches. It makes framing a shot very easy and my partially sighted father found it so useful he replaced his own camera with the M873 days after using mine! When in viewing mode you can also zoom into your pictures and move around them to check the quality which I find really useful.

The camera comes with a bag which is fine but a hard case would offer better protection. The camera runs on a rechargeable lithium battery, which is included in the price. All you have to do is plug a charger into the mains and leave it, and I have found the battery life to be very long-it's not died on me once in the 8 months I have had it and that has included some long days out! A UK and European battery charging lead are included which is really useful for travelling.

The camera does not come with an SD memory card, so you will have to purchase one at a size to suit your needs. However these are available on the Internet so cheaply now that it only adds about £5 to the price.

All in all I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend the camera to anyone.
