Advantages: Ease of use
Disadvantages: Problem with lens cover
I have had this camera now for about 18 months and have a rather mixed opinion of it. My colleagues also have the same camera and feel the same way.
It has an ultra-wide angle and is fantastic for taking photos where a wide view is needed (horizontally not vertically). The picture quality is very good (7.1 mega pixels) and the zoom function prodcues some high quality shots.
The functions such as zoom, flash etc are easy to use and well laid out on the camera for ease of use for a novice. The review button is also easily accessible and photos can be viewed full screen or as thumbnails which is helpful if there are a lot of photos stored.
It is very easy to download the photos onto a computer, and the CD rom is easy to intall prior to doing this (you are taken through it step by step in an easy to understand manner).
The battery power is good and takes hundreds of photos before recharging is necessary.
In terms of ease of use I cannot find fault with the camera; the problem started about a year in when the lens cover stopped opening using just the correct button. I now have to press the button and slide the cover across at the same time and frequently have to hold this in place while taking the shot. Unfortunately this defeats the point of the wide angle as I now have a lovely shot of my index finger in front of most of my photos! Two of my colleagues have exactly the same problem with the camera even though we all use a protective cover when carrying it around to avoid damage.
Overall I would rate the camera highly in terms of photo quality and ease of use but a little disappointed by the problem with the lens which seems to be a common fault.
Summary: Good quality camera and easy to use functions.
