I have been using this camera for nearly a year now, and i have to say it is fantastic! I am a fairly serious photographer (yes - one of those that has a SLR) but I always keep this in my kit bag in case something grabs my attention. The picture quality is amazing, an impressive 12MP that allows me to print A4 with no problems. The video functionality is excellent. I used this at Glastonbury last year to record some of the music. For a little camera, the sound quality is good.
The only negative comment I have is the battery life, Sadly this camera does not have a built in rechargeable battery - which makes this camera fairly expensive to run. Generally you can get about 100 shots from a set of good quality batteries. This is reduced dramatically when you are constantly reviewing pictures or shooting high definition video. I have also found that turning the camera on and off repeatedly can quickly kill the battery. Overall, an excellent all rounder. So nearly perfect!
I purchased the camera entirely for the easyshare feature. but after using it with all its features my views became very positive from this product. the camera is very compact for my taste, the screen is a decent size and the menu options are very straight forward to understand, all the added features like digital image stabilization(anti-wobble), red eye remover scene selector and action shot mode is great, even for an electronics novice. A camera with digital and optical zoom is always handy and for major zooms the stability was very encouraging. The HD video recording is also a great stand alone product in itself within the camera. whatever SD card you have for this product, it is very easy to upload and store your images. Easyshare is always a great feature to have, it's quick and simple and i highly recommend it to anyone who has a life on the go. for a first time photographer this is also great for practice shots. great camera
I was looking for a good camera that is sturdy, good quality and relitively cheap that i could take to Glastonbury 2008 to capture THE moments.
I found this little gem on play.com for only £99, that is an offer i couldn't refuse.
This has 20 main picture settings including panorama which enables you to take 3 pictures and the camera then stitches them together, landscape, night, snow, and fireworks. You can also have a timer to enable you to sprint to be in the photo too.
There is also a manual setting which admittedly isn't hard to use but it does take time getting THAT setting.
I currently have a 4GB SDHC card which allows me to take 1099 photos and capture 58 minutes of film on the HD camera. With 5x zoom it allows you to film from quite a distance. This video option looks really amazing when on television.
My camera has now 'survived' being shaken about in my pocket and being dropped in the mud for the last 2 years and I have not had a single problem with it.
Because of the capabilities and design of this camera I would recommend this to everyone.
When it comes to all things technological I am absolutely clueless...I am one of the very few people on the planet ( a dying species!) who does not use a mobile phone because I can't get to grips with it.
The same goes with digital cameras... I have owned several in the past but they were too complicated for me to use. That's why I am absolutely delighted with the The Kodak Easyshare Z1285 that I have recently bought from Argos. I chose it because it had been greatly reduced to just over £100.
Its main benefit for me is that it is so simple to use.... just point and click. Then to review just press on 'review' - simple , no problem even I can do that!!
Even though I bought it principally for ease of use, I was very impressed with the quality of the photographs... they are stunning. The camera gives you incredible HD photographs with 12 megapixels.
It also allows you to take videos. It also has a 5x optical zoom lens. As the camera boasts this number of pixels it is possible to crop and enlarge and still retain great picture quality. It has 64 MB of internal memory.
It is possible to create panoramic shots by combining up to three shots together into one larger picture with the panorama stitch mode feature. Another feature is the digital image stabilization which automatically minimises camera shake to deliver a clear picture.
The Kodak easyshare software that is included allows you to view, edit and save them. Transferring the photographs is simple. Just connect the camera via USB, swith it on and download with one touch.
The camera is an attractive little black number and comes complete with USB cable, wrist strap and a getting started guide.
I only bought this camera because I had saved up loads and loads on Nectar points over a couple of years and it was on sale in Argos (reduced from £299.99 to £109.99). I wouldn't naturally buy a Kodak camera because of the 'name' that it's given by all the big camera shops and snobby people who own 'SLRs' and other such several hundred pound cameras.
However to my delight this camera is excellent. It's 12MP, so all pictures that are taken well are of an absolutely stunning quality. The video camera it has is HD and truly takes excellent videos. I wouldn't normally rate a camera for its video capabilities, but this one is ace. The zoom is awesome (better than my mum's SLR) and the digital zoom is good as well.
I also really like the look of the camera. It's a lovely black and silver combination, making it cool, but it's also quite small.
I would have no doubt in thoroughly recommending this camera to anyone looking for a new one, whatsmore, it also has a great range of exciting modes, some of which are:
- Anti-Shake Mode - If you're not good at keeping still
- Night Mode - This one is excellent, one of the best I've tried
- Action Mode - Very good at catching moving objects (will take a good non-blurry picture of a car doing 70mph)
And many many more!!
