Advantages: Reliable, small, power saving, easy to use

Disadvantages: pictures are rather soft, some of the macro shots are blurred

Kodak Z710 is my second Kodak digital camera. I got it as a replacement after I sent my Z740 for a service. I don't quite know what happened to my previous camera, but I like Z710 all the same.

Although the outcome is a little soft even under very bright sunlight compared to Z740, it is doing well. With 18 scenes and 3 colour modes, it is suitable for both basic users and hobbyists. The buttons are easily accessible and rather easy to understand their functions.

You can tweak the camera to your own liking in the PASM modes. Here under the Manual mode, you can also control the ISO. You can choose to have your pictures in various forms of mega pixels up to 7.1mp. Of course, without using the flash, the outcome is good under bright light. However, in the macro mode, the pictures may not turn out so sharp. Sometimes, the object blurred if full macro is used.

It may not be so at night. You need to tweak it to the highest ISO, depending on the megapixel of your pictures.

Overall, the camera is solid, smaller than other prosumer digicams. It is using only two Ni-MH batteries. These batteries may not last long, depending on your usage again, so it wise to carry some extras. However, the energy saving mode, which shuts down the camera after 3 or 5 minutes is very helpful.

I would not comment on the price as the currency exchange and taxes may be different in various countries. I do recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for a small, compact point and shoot camera, yet who also wishes to do some tweaking and zooming at the same time.

Summary: For all users, I truly recommend it.
