I've been into photography for years and have made a bit of money from it. I like nice optics and I knew this camera had a Schneider lense which should have been tasty. I bought one of these used and really like it even though it was far from being a new model when I got it.
I have been disappointed that every increase in pixels I get with new cameras doesn't necessarily translate into improved resolution. I decided the key to better resolution of telephotos shots lay in getting a camera with a big zoom ration. This has a 24 x zoom and it helps so much.
I have a DSLR but don't want to be changing lenses all the time and can see myself using this a lot more than the DSLR and it has rekindled my desire to take pictures just for fun.
Since Kodak went bust, there may be a few of their "bridge" cameras (like this one) available for good deals.
I'd have liked a bulb setting on this camera (I haven't found one yet) which my Casio EX-P700 has (that is also a good camera) and shots from my 5mp Konica Revio are also very credible ... there really isn't that much difference between 5mp and 12mp. You'd hope there was at least double the resolution but their isn't. Searching for ever more mega pixels is obviously not the anser to bringing the world closer to you by zooming into ever finer detail and resolution.
