Advantages: Metal body, Easy download battery power not needed, Fantastic quality images
Disadvantages: A little heavier than usual, shutter cover needs to be locked in place before lens opens
This is a great little camera. I know because I've a few digital cameras and I know what I'm looking for and what is needed, by me anyway! Firstly the feel of the camera when you pick it up..it feels heavy and of quality. An all-metal body (very rare) gives it an old fashioned feel but then again it's just how a camera should feel in the hand. It sits nicely in the hand. The size is good too and it looks like a 35mm compact and therefore familiar. The camera is switched on by pushing back the lens cover until it clicks. All the way in other words. Once this is done the lens moves out into a rest postition ready for taking. The only disadvantage is that one can't just turn it on to review what has been taken on the media cards without having the lens in a 'taking' position. The shutter button is easily located on the top plate and the optical zoom is a two button thumb postioned action on the taking hand (right). The action of pressing the shutter gives the feeling that there is something happning and it is a smooth action. The colour screen automatically comes on when the camera is switched on and shows the image that the viewfinder/lens can see. (not ttl) One has to turn it off the if you just use the viewfinder. Setting up the camera for differing resolutions is easy using the buttons on the back of the camera and simple menu prompts help immensely as you 'OK' the setting. The playback is via a 'display' button whic enables paging through, zooming in and scanning the whole frame in detail using a separate rocker butons. The camera is unique as far as I know in taking not only XD cards but Sony stick at the same time or individually. This gives lots of choice and flexibility. They nestle closely together in the base under an easily moved flap which also holds the battery The battery is removed from the camera to charge in a special cradle and is fully charged in a few hour
s. This of course means that should you carry two batteries then one can be charging at the same time as the other is in the camera. The quality of the images is stunning on all resolutions and gives sharp and very nicely saturated images. It will go very close too I think a about 20cm (8 inches) To download images from the camera is very easy and the camera need not be switched on if you use the USB cable supplied with the kit. This means that no battery power is wasted and the computer just sees the memory cards as a separate drive. This is a very useful feature. A super little camera and my 'little Rolls Royce'

- 02/02/04 I've been looking for a digital camera to partner with my excellent Canon i850 printer (reviewed here on dooyoo). This one looks like a good choice.
Nice review :)
