Advantages: Good build construction, lense, good picture quality

Disadvantages: Minolta and Konica support now done by Sony since Minolta Konica moved out of digital camera busines

Update added Feb 2008. Still using it. Build quality lovely. Fires up and is ready to shoot very quickly. Konica lenses are well known for being nice. I bet you could get one of these on ebay for next to nothing. They're not well known or sought after but they ARE nice quality. They're actually heavier than many cameras because there's so much metal in the casing so if you want something light, don't get it! Original review follows .........

I bought one of these from Morgan Computer Company (see their web site for latest deals) for £140 in 2005. I use Morgan quite a bit.

I looked at jpg photos taken on my KD-510Z (5 megapixel) and a Casio Exilim Pro EX-P700 (7 megapixel .... with a Canon lense)bought in April 2006.

I found it hard to see any difference between the shots at extreme magnification so if you just want to shoot jpegs and a bit of video, this camera's great. If someone is selling one used, as long as it works OK, consider it. It's perfectly capable of satisfying most peoples' needs.

I bought the Casio because the battery charger for the KD-510Z failed and whilst I was getting a replacement, I thought I'd see what 7 megapixel digital photography was like.

If you want to sell pictures, most printers want tiff format pictures, not jpg. The KD-510Z only saves files in jpg format. The Casio saves in tiff format but the files, if shot at full 7 megapixel resolution, are 22mb+ in size and take a while to render so I use the Konica to shoot whilst the Casio is rendering tiff shots.

If you just want to photograph stuff for ebay sales and web sites, even a 2 megapixel camera will be easily good enough. Get one used for about £30! The resolution on computer screens is so dreadful, you can't see much difference above 1.3 megapixel resolution.

Summary: I still use this despite having a 7 megapixel Casio EX-P700 I also like
