Konica Minolta Dimage RD-3000 ... 984 x 1, 360-pixel uncompressed TIF or finished JPEG images from a pair of 1.5-megapixel CCD imagers using a half-mirror prism. The prism splits the image into left and right halves, each of which is projected onto its own CCD. The two images are then seamlessly rejoined by Minolta's Image Stitching technology, becoming a single 2.7-million pixel image.

To downsize the part where the light passes through from the condenser lens to the half-mirror prism, three mirrors are included to bend the path three times. The second and third mirrors eliminate unnecessary infrared rays, without affecting the CCD's visible light sensitivity. Minolta's relay optical system allows light to pass through a low-pass filter at the optimum angle to suppress rainbow moire artifacts to a minimum.

The RD 3000 is ideal for both handheld and tripod-mounted shooting. It looks large and bulky but in reality it's fairly lightweight at around 1kg. The camera is both sturdy and durable with a tough magnesium alloy exterior; the interior is reinforced with stainless steel. Its rather unusual design gives you a stable and secure grip of the camera and the controls are well placed and easy to operate. Four exposure modes are available: (1) Programmed AE mode automatically selects the optimum exposure and shutter speed. (2) Aperture Priority, (3) Shutter Speed Priority [2 to 1/2000 sec], or (4) Full Manual [30 to 1/2000 sec shutter speeds]. Light conditions are measured by a 14-segment honeycomb-pattern metering system with a Spot metering option.

I am forever grabbing my camera to take a snap shot of my step kids, dog, husband, or something else that catches my eye. I am not however very technically minded and so when looking for a camera I want something that will give good results with a click of a button. My previous camera had 3x zoom, and I used to find this ok but then when it came to photographing the kids for example if they were playing in a football match or at a gymnastics performance my pictures were always a distant blur. The camera in itself cannot be classed as a pocket camera it is bigger and bulkier, but still small enough to pop it into my handbag or carry it over my shoulder. ...

will see picture on the screen. Rapid AF has fast autofocus for digital cameras with predictive focus control in the class of 8X zoom and 5MP cameras as measured by Konica Minolta’s standard test method. Focus is a about 0.3 seconds in wide angle and telephoto. Conclusion Very good product for amateur users. Minolta is a very reputable company in producing high-tech quality products. You will most likely be satisfied with this model. If you are more demanding user you should look for a more expensive Z5 or some models from A200 series. Here s the detailed technical info: Sensor • 1/2.5" Type CCD • 5.2 million pixels total • 5.0 million effective pixels Image ...

When stepping on the high street to get my Dad's Christmas present last year, my Mum and I didn't know what to expect when browsing the new ranges of digital cameras. There are so many to choose from, and yet I feel we made the RIGHT choice. The Dimage Z3 drew our initial attention due to its strange shape and bulky size. My Father has rather large hands, and the camera turned out to be ideal for him; not too fiddly, easy to hold etc. The price scared us a little at first, however, after seeing the features it was packed with we decided to go with it. It allows you to change mode according to a number of things. For example; night mode, sunny ...
