Advantages: small, good styling, good pictures- for the price
Disadvantages: check the mains adaptor, not upgradeable, but it is cheap
I am terrible with cameras- I lose them, get them wet, drop them or am just plain crap with them- hence the reason for me always getting cheapies! I wanted a digital camera but did not have the know-how, the will or the reddies to go silly- so I had a mooch on Ebay, my favourite auction site (I don't get paid for plugs). I found a company in the US called SuperPCParts who wre selling off a number of digital cameras that supposedly had damaged packaging, but were otheriwse in 'as new' condition. The price for the cameras was around £32 including shipping and insurance from the US! Well, I thought this was great and sent my order in. 3 days later the box arrived and I set about playing with my new toy. It is about the same size as a compact camera (about 4 inches x 2 1/2 inches) and takes a CR17345 lithium battery. The smartmedia card inside the little box cannot, I repeat, cannot be upgraded but hey, for £32 you can't get much. The photo quality is more than adequate. You get about 32 640x480 images (fixed focus, not auto-focus) on the camera and I am going to try and include one at the bottom of the op- wish me luck! The camera came with Adobe PhotoDeluxe software as standard and a mains adaptor- unfortunately the adaptor was set up for US-style sockets, but a quick email to Largan meant that an adaptor around the same voltage running at 1000mA would be fine. Overall I am so happy with the product, I wish I had enough money to buy the company! Neil July 2002 No, sorry, could not paste a piccie on, but believe me, for £32 the quality is very good!
