Nikon Coolpix 4600 † Introduction † Having decided to enter the digital camera market for the first time, a heady months worth of perusing both magazines and online websites followed, with the aim of finding a camera that could offer both adequate features, and be able to slowly introduce an amateur to the world of digital photography. Having taken into consideration various offers from various websites, it was decided that the Nikon Coolpix 4600 would be our best option when considering we had no previous experience of even using a digital camera. It offered all the features a buyer would need for first time use; zoom lens, red eye reduction, top ... Read the complete review

My parents bought me this camera as a birthday present and for a school art trip to Paris, and four years later it's still my trusty companion, working perfectly and fulfilling all my casual snapper's needs. Having used several friends cameras I much prefer mine, and believe that the nikon coolpix 4600 is a brilliant buy for a non-professional photographer of any age. Body... The camera fits into your hand perfectly, a robust light silver block that measures roughly 3cm thick - I have seen several slimmer cameras, but the Nikon 4600 balances aesthetic pleasure and simple button and camera screen layout. A screw for mobile podiums and the battery lid ... Read the complete review

I got the Nikon Coolpix 4600 about two years ago for Christmas. At the time I was really pleased with it. It took good photos- it has various features including a sport mode- where the pictures are taken very quickly to avoid blur when taking a photo of something moving- it has a self timer, settings for various different scenes including snow, sunset, sunrise etc. The camera has 4 megapixels, which is ok, but compared to newer cameras, the picture quality is nowhere near as good. However, whilst I've had this camera, I've taken some wonderful photos. I'm no photographer, but I took a photo of a sun rise, using the special mode, and it was so beautiful I had ... I used this camera for 3 years before it decided to break. Unfortunately one day it just decided to stop working, through no physical damage. Admittedly the camera was damaged a week after its purchas and was repaired by an authorised repair centre. In my experience this camera was not a particularly robust model. It looks relatively bulky and well made but its internal contents were easily broken with an average impact. That is the first let down of this particular model. The product is a 4 megapixel camera and whilst this is not impressive in modern times, it still takes a relatively good image. This resolution is fine should you wish to take pictures for ... I've had this camera for a good two years now, and while I sometimes feel pressured to upgrade, I know that I will be using this camera until it falls apart! The quality of picture is impressive for only 4mp and colour enough for a casual shooter, such as myself. Small enough to fit in your pocket and durable enough for rough and tumble (I've taken it to many shows and it hasn't seen a scratch yet.) The menus are easy to navigate, and the menu wheel / buttons self-explanitory. There is also an option to choose preset modes catered to various scenarios (beach, snow, indoor party, fireworks etc), and they do work well. The only negative thing I have encountered with ...
