Nikon Coolpix 4600 ... has been designed to make things simple for you and give you greater versatility without compromising your enjoyment of the moment. The COOLPIX 4600 features 16 handy Scene modes, four of which offer a Scene Assistance function. These user-friendly modes automatically control camera settings, enabling you to achieve high-quality results with subjects that range from sunsets to underwater. The COOLPIX 4600 stands apart from other cameras in its class with its handy ability to automatically improve the quality of recorded shots with the touch of a button. Nikon's exclusive D-Lighting function, for example, can be selected in Playback mode - automatically compensating for insufficient flash or excessive back lighting in order to obtain balanced exposure throughout the frame. Nikon's proprietary Advanced Red-eye Reduction, on the other hand, automatically detects and corrects red eyes in-camera in most situations. With a high-quality 3x optical Zoom-Nikkor lens and 4x digital zoom, the COOLPIX 4600 gives you a high degree of control over the way you compose your shots.

... this is not impressive in modern times, it still takes a relatively good image. This resolution is fine should you wish to take pictures for computer use or standard photo size prints. If you are wishing to blow up your images a higher resolution would be recommended. The camera features a 3x optical zoom which is pretty much a standard zoom on a compact digital camera but to be honest this zoom is not terribly effective. For a pocket sized camera, this is ideal as it saves space but don't expect to be taking great p...more

Nikon Coolpix 4600 † Introduction † Having decided to enter the digital camera market for the first time, a heady months worth of perusing both magazines and online websites followed, with the aim of finding a camera that could offer both adequate features, and be able to slowly introduce an amateur to the world of digital photography. Having taken into consideration various offers from various websites, it was decided that the Nikon Coolpix 4600 would be our best option when considering we had no previous experience of even using a digital camera. It offered all the features a buyer would need for first time use; zoom lens, red eye reduction, top ...  Read the complete review

My parents bought me this camera as a birthday present and for a school art trip to Paris, and four years later it's still my trusty companion, working perfectly and fulfilling all my casual snapper's needs. Having used several friends cameras I much prefer mine, and believe that the nikon coolpix 4600 is a brilliant buy for a non-professional photographer of any age. Body... The camera fits into your hand perfectly, a robust light silver block that measures roughly 3cm thick - I have seen several slimmer cameras, but the Nikon 4600 balances aesthetic pleasure and simple button and camera screen layout. A screw for mobile podiums and the battery lid ...  Read the complete review

I got the Nikon Coolpix 4600 about two years ago for Christmas. At the time I was really pleased with it. It took good photos- it has various features including a sport mode- where the pictures are taken very quickly to avoid blur when taking a photo of something moving- it has a self timer, settings for various different scenes including snow, sunset, sunrise etc. The camera has 4 megapixels, which is ok, but compared to newer cameras, the picture quality is nowhere near as good. However, whilst I've had this camera, I've taken some wonderful photos. I'm no photographer, but I took a photo of a sun rise, using the special mode, and it was so beautiful I had ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Nikon Coolpix 4600 - good at the time! (332 words)

I used this camera for 3 years before it decided to break. Unfortunately one day it just decided to stop working, through no physical damage. Admittedly the camera was damaged a week after its purchas and was repaired by an authorised repair centre. In my experience this camera was not a particularly robust model. It looks relatively bulky and well made but its internal contents were easily broken with an average impact. That is the first let down of this particular model. The product is a 4 megapixel camera and whilst this is not impressive in modern times, it still takes a relatively good image. This resolution is fine should you wish to take pictures for ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Nikon Coolpix 4600: For some "cool" pix.. (150 words)

I've had this camera for a good two years now, and while I sometimes feel pressured to upgrade, I know that I will be using this camera until it falls apart! The quality of picture is impressive for only 4mp and colour enough for a casual shooter, such as myself. Small enough to fit in your pocket and durable enough for rough and tumble (I've taken it to many shows and it hasn't seen a scratch yet.) The menus are easy to navigate, and the menu wheel / buttons self-explanitory. There is also an option to choose preset modes catered to various scenarios (beach, snow, indoor party, fireworks etc), and they do work well. The only negative thing I have encountered with ...  Read the complete review
