Advantages: Simple to use, very reliable

Disadvantages: Lacks some of the more important features

TheNikon Coolpix L19 is an 8 Megapixel point and shoot compact digital camera, powered by two AA batteries and available in either silver (pictured) or pink. It measures around 10 x 6 x 3 cm, so is quite bulky for a Nikon but you hardly notice due to its smooth contours, low weight (185g) and seamless matt finish.

It comes with a 2.7 inch screen, which is easily large enough for the average user to frame their shot, and is pretty high resolution too. I've certainly not had any issues with it.

As it's a 'point and click' style camera, some of the features that more experienced photographers may take for granted are somewhat lacking. There is no manual exposure setting, focus distance, face detection, or red-eye correction and even the zoom is locked to 10 settings (between min and max).

For a budget point and click camera, you can't really go wrong with one of these, it's quick and reliable, and has all the basic functionality that anyone would need in a product. It's very simple to use, and does what it needs to in terms of getting a decent photo with minimal fuss. However if you're looking for something to capture the 'once in a lifetime shot' I suggest you look elsewhere.

Summary: A great point and click camera, but not one for the professional user.
