The COOLPIX P5000 incorporates 3.5x optical zoom capability and a 36-126mm Zoom-Nikkor lens (35mm equivalent) for tight compositions or zooming out to capture sweeping vistas.

Nikon's Vibration Reduction (VR) image stabilization technology enhances the shooting experience by counteracting the effects of camera shake in lower light, or when shooting unsteady subjects. Automatically activated upon start-up, VR also automatically stabilizes images displayed on the wide-viewing angle 2.5-inch LCD, making it faster to frame shots and capture the intended moment, The benefits of VR image stabilization also extend to achieving smoother action in the movie shooting modes.

Extended light sensitivity range up to ISO 3200 opens new worlds of photographic opportunities by adding the power to shoot more effectively in lower light conditions, or to capture fast moving subjects. The COOLPIX P5000's new image-processing engine, with enhanced noise reduction and an improved signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio, preserves high image quality, even when shooting at higher ISO settings.

Being something of an Ebay vulture my Nikon Coolpix 2200 cost £85 for what was an unused gift but normally they sell for upwards of £130 in most shops. As standard the 2200 incorporates a built in memory of 14.5MB that will store 25 pictures with ease. Summary I suggest you invest in a couple of accessories when you buy your Coolpix 2100 (or in fact any Digital Camera). 1. A case.
