Advantages: Slim and good looking, takes good shots in all situations, really good price

Disadvantages: Nothing

I decided to treat myself to a new camera before going on a trip to the Lakes with the kids. I looked for ages for the right one but was getting confused with all the different specifications that they had and I finally decided to buy the Nikon S3100 because in the end it came down to how it looked because nearly all the ones in my price range sounds like they had the same specifications.

The camera came in different colours but I plumped for the citrus yellow one because it was the nicest looking to me anyway. It is made from metal and is really thin and light. It fits in my jeans pocket and even the smallest of my handbags easily and I have no trouble carrying it around with me.

The specs don't mean much to me but it has 14.0 megapixels which I know is high and a 5x zoom. There is a 2.7 inch LCD display so that you can look at your pictures when you have shot them and this is lovely and bright clear and I can zoom in on it and do some basic editing on it straight from the camera.
You can also apply effects such as fish eye, black and white and softening straight from the screen.

The camera is simple to use and really intuitive. You can set it to automatic and just point and shoot or else there are some different features that you can set it to. My favourite one is the blink feature which stops the camera from taking the picture if someone is blinking so it means that all my pictures come out with every one's eyes open.

Nearly every time the pictures that I have taken come out really well. The colours all look bright and vivid but not too bright that they look artificial and fake. The shots very rarely turn out blurry even when zoomed right in on something. The flash also does an excellent job at making sure everything turns out well even in almost pitch blackness.

The camera can also record in HD and this looks great on my big television but the sound quality isn't so good and it doesn't match up with the quality of the picture. Recording in HD also takes up loads of space on the memory card.

The memory card that the camera takes is an SD card which are cheap enough to buy. It also has a rechargeable lithium battery which lasts for ages when fully charged.

The camera only cost me £69 which I think is a fantastic price for this particular camera. I honestly cannot fault it. I am sure that a more expensive camera will give better looking shots but for me and my needs the shots are great and the price is even better so I would highly recommend it to people.
