I upgraded to this camera from another much older Nikon . As far as I m aware, the S10 is no longer produced, but you ll probably still find some new examples at reasonable prices. The camera has a compact body which widens out around the lens. In the closed position, the lens faces up, but the lens part of the camera can be turned through 270º to point in almost any direction: this is really handy for photographing over people s heads in a crowd, or for getting clever low level angle shots. problem in low light. Also, I find the need to use the dock to plug the camera into USB pretty cumbersome. The case I got with it was for the Coolpix S3, which has a large metal part on the cover, which served to dent my S5 whilst I was being barged on the tube in London, it s quite thin, but it seems pretty strong. As someone I know owns an Coolpix P2, which has WiFi, I didn t go for the S6, as the WiFi doesn t do much with my setup, despite its slightly bigger screen. All that said... Nikon Coolpix S1

and the screen is a great size for looking through. It is fairly lightweight and not loaded with a million buttons like some cameras on the market. The menu is easy to use and is pretty idiotproof. It fits in your handbag and its a really nifty little camera. Plus its made by Nikon , so its all good. It comes with a handy cradle for sitting it in to charge and upload your photos onto the pc. It is also capable of taking video, which we tested on New Years Eve in Kenya. Not fantastic quality but then i guess that is what digital camcorders are ...
