I have been priviledged to own a D200 for a year now, and what a superb camera it is. A camera for the professional or committed amateur, this is a camera built to last and with excellent features and performance. It has an alloy body with environmental seals to prevent ingress of water, sand, etc, and a rapid rate of fire on motor drive. Superb metering capabilties and an excellent menu system, and integration to Nikon's lenses providing at least 2 stops of vibration reduction.

Summary: A joy

I have recently purchased a D200, first impressions it fits into my big hands, the menu typical Nikon ezy and functional, yes the back light on the control panel has already got brownie points while photographing a Wedding a night.

Depending on the lens I use for sports Adventure Racing Photography this camera with a hand grip is not to heavy for me but I'm used to carrying a pro video camera and tripod around for 5 to 6 hours filming sporting events.

Using the 4 bank folders for settings is ideal as I have to be quick not only to capture the competitors but to changing conditions and lens while on the move. This camera though not a D2x will impress publishers and the serious photography.

M y work has already been published on the front cover of a Local Government booklet for cycling on the Gold Coast. I'm still working on that wow! shot but having a filming back ground this has given me a big head start especially colour bar / histogram / lighting and manual settings as more preferable in RAW format.

Please keep the tips coming being new to photography I can only improve from now on. Big G . Australia.
