Bought this camera the week it came out and never looked back (Nikon D200)

Advantages: Fantastic build quality. Very solid feel. Disadvantages: Slightly dated as no self clean facility This was the camera I bought to upgrade from the D70 I previously owned which was no slouch itself. Straight away the build quality and feel in your hand is what impresses. It's hard to quantify it other than to say it just 'feels right'. The camera feels like a piece of pro equipment from the off. Let me say that image quality is excellent. I can't think of one occasion when i've felt let down since I purchased it. The menu system is also well worth a mention. It's pretty intuitive although the comprehensive instruction manual really heps you squeeze the most out of it. One nice feature is a kind of bank system that lets you define custom settings that can then be selected in less than a second. The only criticism would be that compared to the D300 it lacks the useful self clean system. However, compare the price of the two and it's probably something you can live with. Talking of price if you can get hold of one at the moment you will not regret it. I have bought a second one I was so impressed. In summary I would find it hard to fault this camera. It's ideal for somebody who maybe wants to step up a level or two and not break the bank. All in all a very highly recommended piece of kit. Summary: Excellent DSLR for those who want great quality at a fair price
