I purchased a Nikon D40 last month and the picture quality is fantastic. There are a variety of setting available (black and white, sepia, night etc.) and it has been a pleasure to figure out how each of them work. The camera is easy to use and the quality is much better than a standard digital camera. Learning to use the D40 is simple however the only problem i had was attempting to view the picture on the screen before taking it. There is a manual that comes with it that you should take the time to read as it gives very usefull tips. The battery life is fantastic, i have only charged it three times sinse i purchased the camera, this is very usefull when on holiday or abroad when a charger is not always handy. Brilliant camera that takes amazing photographs. Ideal for a young photographer who want to get into photography.
