Great first time SLR camera (Nikon D40)

I got this camera about 6-8 months ago.
I've had digital cameras in the past but I always wanted that professional picture like quality, which can only be found in an SLR camera. I chose this camera, because it seemed to offer the best value for money.

The camera is relatively small for an SLR camera and is light also. The lens that it came with is excellent quality and certainly enables you to start shooting as soon as possible. The only accessory I've bought so far is a flashgun, which I use rarely. In many situations, it is rare that the camera isn't capable with the equipment initially provided. I've taken scenery shots both during the day and at night, producing excellent results; I've taken shots under bright sunlight, dull days and with the settings, always managed to get a good picture. The quality of picture is amazing, such depth, which you could never achieve from a standard digital camera.

The camera is an excellent beginner/ first SLR camera and certainly helps you get to grips with the manual settings, changing ISO, getting softer shots as well. The battery which comes with the camera lasts for a long time in between charges, so there is rarely a chance of you getting caught short with a low battery.

The camera also comes with a photo suite, which is good, but I prefer to use third party software. The standard software comes is good enough and allows you to edit the pictures and tracer them to your hard drive.
