Nikon D40 SLR Camera
Member Name: Sabretooth61
Advantages: Ease of use, quick start up
Disadvantages: None for an entry level SLR
I purchased this camera as my first step into SLR's and I can say I have not regretted it for a minute.
The only thing I regret is I don't get to use it enough!
It has incredibly quick start up. From flicking the switch to 'on' to taking a photo is 2 seconds maximum which allows you to never miss a good opportunity.
The built in flash is good but for the more advanced photographers it has a shoe to attach a more powerful flash.
The quality of the photos with it being a 6.1 mega pixel camera is amazing. It was the only thing about this camera I had doubts with before buying but I can honestly say it has never been an issue.
The ability to shoot in RAW as well as JPEG is an added bonus as RAW files allow you to easily adjust and perfect your photos on your editing suite software (I use Photoshop)
Lenses are extremely easy to change.
It takes SD memory cards which most non SLR digital cameras take so this saves some money at the time of purchase.
Summary: Excellent entry level SLR
