Advantages: Great for new photographers

Disadvantages: Lens that comes with it restricts me, but its still great for the money youre spending

Are you wanting to move up from simple point and shoot cameras, onto something more creative and make professional looking photos, but are on a tight budget and aren't willing to take out a loan on a part time hobby. Then I'd recomend the D40x.
I recieved this as a christmas present a year ago. Instantly just using the automatic settings and pointing and shooting the photos were a huge step up from my expensive point and shoot camera. Lovely clear photos with a nice depth of field. I've been moving into the manual settings and the camera has a good feel. It's small enough that I can carry it about in my huge handbag all week and capture lovely moments. It's light enough too.
The lens that comes with it is average. And I dont have the funds to get a new one, but theres plenty to experiement with right now.

Aperfect camera for beginners.
