Another Nikon delight! (Nikon D40x)

The Nikon D40 X has been my first dip into the digital SLR world, following an interim spell with an Fuji S9500!

Prior to this i have always been a huge Nikon fan and for many years enjoyed using my Nikon 601 and 801 bodies, with a lovely pair of Sigma lenses!

The reason for upgrading to this model was in preparation for our honeymoon to Kenya in October 08, where we would be spending 8 days on safari = and with animal photography being top of my list it was an opportunity i wanted to get as much as i could from!

The battery life is one of the first plus points i found - i have regularly taken a charged battery out for the day and taken a good few hundred shots with camera being turned on and off all day, and the battery has not struggled once - far better than past cameras!

The functions - well to be hinest, like lots of technology i own, i hardly scratch the surface of the possible functions available. This camera does seem to have functions for just about everything, although i cant comment on them all, i can say that all that i have tried have worked perfectly well! In particular the full auto function seems to takea far better picture than any camera i have tried!

Like always with Nikon it feels nice and solid and weighty, one of the key selling points for me! Its taken a few little knocks since i owned it, and nothing has stopped working!

All the pictures i took in Kenya came out lovely, mainly due to this cameras loely reproduction of colours - particularly the browns and oranges in early morning - so accurate its stunning!

I would always recommend Nikon first and fo price/vs quality this model is right at the top of the list - it is lovely to use!

Summary: A fantastic starter DSLR from my favorite brand!
