      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Camera high sensitivity and suitable for professional photographers and enthusiasts

The Nikon FX seal , stamping the full-frame cameras , draws attention of photo enthusiasts and professionals . It is inserted in cameras similar to 35mm film size sensor. As the fundamental matter of the photograph is the recording of light , the larger the sensor , the more light is captured . The result is clear : more image quality , larger photos , low noise and blur . This is one reason that put the D800 on the radar of several photographers . In addition to the 35.9 24 mm sensor , Nikon has achieved a resolution of 36.3 megapixels , making the D800 DSLR quality in a nearly flawless .

With a plethora of commands , the D800 is not designed for amateur photographers or little empathy with professional equipment . Unlike the " semi -professional " calls , there is no automatic or something close to that . For a similar result , the photographer should throw at least five parameters . But this is not a problem since you can control absolutely any aspect of this machine, including the configuration menus . The user can group the functions that suit you in a menu, forming subgroups .

The main menus are ( respecting the spelling of the camera) :

      A: Auto Focus
      B : Measuring Exposure
      C : Timing / AE lock
      D : Shooting / presentation
      E: Bracketing / flash
      F : Controls - 4 semi - customizable buttons ( each button can only assume certain functions ) , including Fn .
      G: Filming

In addition to the usual access controls to Nikon , the D800 has a very solid construction . Its magnesium alloy casing , while offering resistance , acts as a lock to electromagnetic interference . Even though the exterior is made entirely of plastic and bring many controls , the footprint of this camera is quite comfortable . The weight of 1.2 kg (without lens) is higher than that of competitors , but it is in the middle of the brand itself , especially among full-frame .

The D800 has very similar characteristics to the D4 , the most complete camera from Nikon . Among them , the 51-point AF system , the same image processing engine and a great performance videos . Unfortunately , the D800 did not inherit the speed of D4 . The record of 4 frames per second in RAW format is 11 frames away from the D4 , or even competing in the same category . To be relatively slower , the D800 is not the most suitable camera for photographers with high demand for speed , those wishing to register as sports scenes . Its use is more compatible with a studio or landscapes .

With ISO sensitivity ranging from 100 to 6,400 ( plus the additional 50 values , 12.800 and 25.600 ) , the D800 is ideal for working in low light . The amount of noise is minimal , making up the photos at higher ISO values usable .

To make adjustments in menus and review images , the camera has a 3.2-inch LCD panel . With 921K pixels and good brightness , its use is comfortable even on very clear days . A common to category deficiency is the lack of rotation of the display . The display shows: histogram , virtual horizon , 3x3 grid and adjustments. Nikon decided to protect the oleophobic screen with a plastic cover , which accumulates less fingerprints and offers some resistance to moisture and dust . Besides the usual features , the D800 recognizes human faces and adjusts autofocus accordingly. After taking the picture , the preview offers shortcuts to the faces recognized by the camera when the user uses the zoom . This way is easier to navigate between the faces of each person ( to see if anyone was evil in the photo ) .

In addition to recording videos at 30 frames per second 1.080pa , the D800 can transmit uncompressed audio and video output for your miniHDMI . This is a clear response to the success of the Canon 5D Mark II among producers . With input for external microphones capture and control options , the camera can be seen with good eyes for the transmission of content, production of documentaries and the full range of videos .

Another advance is the USB 3.0. This is the first DSLR with a USB port for high throughput . In tests Infolab transfer 434 MB ( 6 RAW files ) in 10 seconds . With the camera connected to a USB 2.0 port , the transfer was made in 16 seconds , a rate of 25.5 MB / s . With many files , the rate of 43.4 MB / s USB 3.0 will save plenty of time . The camera also has a GPS module to enter geographic information in the archives .
