Advantages: Approx 3mins from switching on, if not used, it goes into "sleep" mode,leaving the lense "out" with apparently minimal battery drain. , Versatility & multiple picture formats, No more processing charges!!

Disadvantages: lens cap , cannot be used as a web-cam

Extremely versatile yet you can start shooting straight away in Program mode. Worth taking the time to practice & experiment with the multitude of manual settings. Picture quality is stunning.

Movie mode = fun, amazing low light capabilities, much scope for experimentation and effects.

One annoyance. Lense Cap! You must remove it B4 you switch it on or lense jams.
Got round that by leaving on a 41 to 43mm extension & 43>46mm ring & a 46mm uv filter + 46mm lens cap. That means the telescoping lens is fully protected and no more juddering lens motor. A little less compact, but it aint a midget anyway. Plus if I want to use the 1.45x lense doubler it clips straight on the end, no fuss.
2nd set of Ni-Mh 1800mah batt's essential, charged correctly can last several hours. If you avoid use of the LCD screen it helps.

Overall:
I am dead chuffed with it and considering a heavy duty external battery pack for "adventurous" trips. Get at least a 64Mb card, or two. Don't waste power reviewing or deleting, do that on the Pc.
Ni-Mh can be nasty beasts when fully charged, keep separate from loose change & keys!!!
