Advantages: Really easy to use

Disadvantages: Heavy, eats batteries

I got my Camedia free with a pc system, so I can't comment too much on the price. It is my first digital, and an excellent camera.

This Olympus is very easy to use with a simple point and click system. It comes with an in built flash and useful finger guard to stop you from obscuring the lens and taking pictures of your thumb.

1.3 million pixels meant nothing to me, but it is certainly high enough resolution for my needs. There are three different quality levels. The highest only allows three shots per memory card, but is certainly up to SLR standard. High quality gives 6 shots, and standard allows for 24. I usually stick with 24 shots.

You can buy additional memory cards if you need them , but as I download mine regularly I have not yet bought one.

There is no need to waste shots with this Camedia because it has a small screen allwing you to preview your pictures, and it is easy to delete unwanted shots.

The accompanying software is easy to load, and allows you to clean up your pictures, adjusting lighting, contrast etc, after you have downloaded them to your pc. #

The Olympus, like all digital cameras, does eat batteries, and you should always carry 4 spare AA batteries with you. You can extend battery life by not using the viewing screen.

I have dropped the camera several times, and it withstood all surfaces. It is bigger than my old compact Olympus SLR, and is too heavy for anything other than a combat pants pocket.

The great thing about any digital camera is that you can publish pictures on the web, or e-mail them to friends and family minutes after taking them. This makes it great for family occasions, particularly if you have relatives all over the world.

I would certainly recommend this camera to the novice user.
