When my camera broke-the carry handle snapped it fell on the pavement, bounced into the road and was promtly run over by a car(much to my mates amusement)-I decided to fork out the extra cash for a digital camera instead of just replacing the old one. When I went to look for a digital camera I was caught by an overly smarmy store assistant, you know the kind, slicked back hair, smart jacket, speaks only in jargon and doesn't ever let you go. Smarmy sales guy:<sidles up out of nowhere> "Hello sir, can I be of assistance?" Me: "Umm? yes, I was thinking of buying a digital camera, nothing pricey mind you, its just for taking holiday ... The Olympus C860L is definitely the best value for money I could find, after comparing prices and features of a considerable number of digital cameras, both in physical shops and on the net. It even has some features that higher priced cameras don't offer (like a panorama function which lets you connect up to 10 pictures to make one BIIIG picture) It's 1.3MP give you a sufficiently high resolution for home use, the 1.8" LCD monitor lets you view your pix in a variety of ways (9 different pix as thumbnails; one pic at a time or you can even zoom in and view any pic magnified 3 times). Later I decided to have another play, to my horror I found all the settings go back to the original ... Read the complete review

...when you dont have the display on then your pictures sometimes have a finger or thumb in the top left of the picture. Slow dwnloads from the camera via the Serial cable that is supplied. The fact that it needs 4 AA batteries and not 2 but then again it has got 1.31 Mega pixles and a full colour LCD display to run. A lot of features acompany this great camera some that you will never even think of using but if you ever need them then they are there. The cameras weight is heavy with the batteries but it sort of needs the batteries to run the camera. An 8MB smart media card comes as standard with the camera at this point in time. No case is supplied and the ... Read the complete review
