Advantages: cheaper photos, great for playing with the photos, good software with the camera

Disadvantages: photo quality not as good, instruction manual

I have just purchased this camera from my local electronics store, the thing is so technical you need to read the manual (or more like the bible) to understand how it works, when you have finally set up the bleeding thing. it takes a nice picture - or so I thought untill I came to print the piccy out, so I changed to settings again, had another read of the "bible" with the settings changed I took some more pictures, I then printed them out again, this time the results were ok, but not as good as I was lead to thinking, I then left my camera switched off. Later I decided to have another play, to my horror I found all the settings go back to the original when the machine is switched off, so back to the "bible" to once again read how to change everything. The moral of this story is, all this technology is all very well, but for years and years people have been taking photos, and developing them in a nice dark place the photos allway come out real good, why change this, I will definatly be going back to my old camera for the important photos

p.s. I brought the digi camera for my wedding, which I wont be using

You're right it isn't the simplest bits of equipment to use, but no modern device is nowadays.
