Advantages: Great for beginners
Disadvantages: Doesn't come with protective case and uses ordinary batteries hideously fast
This camera is fantastic for a beginner or more advance users.
It has 3.2 mega pixels and a digital 2.5X zoom so the fact that the camera does not have a zoom lens doesn't matter. You can use the zoom function to get closer then once the photo is taken you can zoom into the picture again without loosing quality.
The photo's come out very good, with the colour etc all exceptionally good quality. The camera is quite small and easy to carry. It has a screen at the back to enable you to view your photos, and you can record short videos, which are done using quick time.
The camera uses the XD memory cards and came with a 16mb card. This holds about 20 photos. These are quite expensive to buy new if you want to take many photos.
The only down side to the camera is the speed which it uses batteries. Ordinary ones would only have enough power to take 4 photos at a maximum so I have now gone onto rechargeable ones, which last forever, much better.
It comes with the software needed for uploading to the computer. It enables you to make and print out cards, calendars and postcards however the actual facilities on the software for editing the photos are very minimal. On the menu for the software there is a link to go to the Olympus site to BUY an upgraded version, which I thought was a cheek. I have resorted to using my previous photo editor.
Over all a very pleasant easy to use camera.
Summary: easy to use, great quality photo's, no zoom lens needed

- 12/06/05 The camera 'has all the software you could need'? I would have rated higher if you had actually told us about this software, the review is just a bit lacking in actual detail.
