Advantages: Simple to operate giving great results. Good-looking, too.

Disadvantages: A little heavy now compared to the newer ones on the market

I purchased my Olympus Camedia C-360 Zoom digital camera around two years ago. I have bought others since but this remains my favourite. When I bought it I paid £199 for it in a specialist camera shop but the same camera can now be purchased for under £150 and I notice that, when Amazon.co.uk stock it, their price is just £110. I have just checked and, needless to say, they do not have any in stock at the time of writing.

The smooth silver-coloured camera needs just two readily-available AA batteries - I use rechargeable ones to ensure that I do not have to keep buying replacements. The XD-Picture Cards for it are also available in all camera shops and many other places, including supermarkets and pharmacies. These have come down in price over the last couple of years. I paid around £28 for my first 128MB card, yet the most recent one I bought, the H 1GB, cost only £19.

This 16MB memory camera is simplicity itself to use. The card slots in sharply and positively and you just point and shoot. It has a zoom of 3.3X, built-in flash and built-in red-eye reduction, panoramic, macro facilities and video record with sound, too.

The 'quick view' feature allows you to view the photos you have taken on a 1.8" LCD screen, without having to open the lens; in this mode, you can do several things by calling up the various menus, including deleting the pictures you do not want to keep. Weighing 0.2kgs, it is well-balanced and comfortable to hold and operate even for small hands.

Printing pictures from the camera is very easy and straightforward either by inserting the picture card in the relevant slot of your computer, or using the Pictbridge facility to link it to a photo-printer, and the results are clean and sharp.

My Olympus Camedia C-360 Zoom camera is one of my prized possessions and I would hate to be without it.
